BLOG
April 26, 2011
I am starting a blog to discuss my
favorite photos that I have taken in
the past week or two. All of these
photos are available for purchase.
I start with the photo that I have
titled "The Mystic Path". I took this
photo on a rainy, foggy afternoon
recently. It was taken in my
backyard leading to the woods and
the photo was then converted to an
oil painting in Corel Painter. I shot
this photo on my Canon 60 D with
my 24-70 f 2.8 Sigma lens set at
36mm. ISO speed was 800 at
1/1000 shutter speed at 3.5
aperture.
I like the mystic feel of the picture
with the grape vines weaving their
way through the barren trees and the
fog appearing heavier and thicker as
you look deeper into the woods. The
path leading deep into the woods
was actually created by deer who
pass through.

We have a two story deck in the
back of our home with a pussy
willow tree brushing up against it.
Numerous goldfinch use this willow
as a perch while awaiting their turn
on the finch feeder. I shot this photo
from just inside the house, after
opening the sliding glass door to the
deck.
There was a yellow forsythia bush in
the background which made a great
backdrop for the goldfinch. The
overcast day emitted nice ambient
light. The blooming pussy willow
nicely complements this Spring
photo. Hope you enjoy it.
This photo was shot with Canon
60D and Sigma 70-200 lens at
200mm, ISO 400, shutter speed at
1/250 and aperture f 4.0.

I had a great time photographing the
Rails to Trails 5K Run/Walk in
Barnesville yesterday. This is really a
nice event put together by Director
Carl Kondrach. Everyone in the
area should check it out next year. A
nice course, lots of awards, prizes,
food and a good cause.
The threat of rain all morning made
for some ideal overcast light for
shooting. The tunnel served as a
great backdrop to shoot the
runners/walkers. A shout out to my
second shooter, wife Linda, who got
some terrific tunnel shots using our
brand new Canon F 2.8 70-200
lens. It really brings the photo quality
to another level.
Hope everyone enjoys the gallery.
P.S. Just want to let you know that
we have many more pictures for

I didn't have a tripod at the Bellaire,
Ohio fair Saturday so I experimented
with just shooting some fireworks
with my Canon 70-200 lens set at
70mm at f 2.8. I captured this shot at
ISO 2000 with 1/125 shutter speed.
Normally you don't want to
photograph fireworks smoke but the
red smoke actually enhances the
picture in my opinion.
Comments are welcome.

I t was a privilege to photograph
this gorgeous couple's wedding at
North Bend State Park in
Harrisville, West Virginia. I caught
this romantic moment when the
couple wondered off down the
road. One of my favorite photos for
sure. This was shot with my Canon
60 D with a Canon 70-200 lens set
at 125 focal length. Shutter speed
was 1/1250 at f2.8 and Iso 640 in
natural light.

STEER RUNS 5K!
While we were photographing a 5K
race yesterday at Monroe County a
steer appeared out of nowhere and
began running the course. It even
crossed the finish line!! REALLY.
My wife Linda shot the finish line
photo that is in the gallery. I took
this shot with a Canon 70-200 lens
at 200 focal length. That was some
steer!!!

I checked out Steeler training camp
today. Due to recent rains the
Steelers decided to practice solely
on the artificial field. Fans were
three deep around the field which
made moving around very difficult. I
was able to shoot the offense but
didn't get much chance to see the
defense at all. Anyway I enjoyed
shooting whatever I could. Despite
the crowds I would really
encourage all Steeler fans to go to
training camp at least once. It's a
fun experience.

Earlier this month Linda and I
enjoyed shooting the wedding of
Lydia and Mark. They were a fun
couple with Mark opting for red
tennis shoes to add some
uniqueness to the event. Our
featured photo shown here was
taken by placing the camera at
floor level and pressing the shutter
button. I think the low angle gives a
great perspective. Hope you enjoy
the gallery.

What a pleasure it was to
photograph Laura and Adam's
wedding on 11-11-11. The
Hyeholde Restaurant provided
some terrific backdrops for
shooting this lovely couple. We
had to overcome some difficult
lighting conditions but I think we
got some neat results. Click on
either the image or the caption
underneath it to take you to a

wedding.
Wonderful photographer! He and his wife
Linda were incredible- they made us feel so
comfortable in front of the camera and they
captured every element of our special day
from details and candids to formal portraits
of us and our families. Our pictures are
absolutely stunning and I know I will love
looking at them forever. I cannot
recommend Ron Pradetto Photography
enough!

I like nothing more than to take a photograph and see
what I can get it to do for me. After 16+ years I
know my way around Photoshop pretty well, but I'm
always trying to learn more about it. The other day I
was wondering how I could get this photo to look like
a cameo brooch.
After extracting the two figures I went into
Photoshop's filters and started testing them for the
results I wanted. And while I liked this a lot, I
wondered what it would look like with a frame
around it.
Once I finished this one I went on to frame others
with a heart frame. I think they turned out very
nice. (To see the other cameos, just click on any
or these images to go to the gallery). I can see
these framed or inserted in a wedding album. Or
even on the front of a card.
Next I think I'll try to figure out how to make
actual necklaces out of them. Might be very
interesting.

Examples of our wedding albums,
designed, printed and bound by Ron
Pradetto Photography. We are
showing the front cover of a 12" and 8"
lay-flat album with a printed canvas
cover. The pages are from a 12"
album. Albums are personalized for
each couple. They can be made in
almost any size up to 12" and any
amount of pages, minimum 20 pages.
We do all of our printing with an Epson
Professional 9 ink printer. These pages
are printed on Ilford Gallerie
Professional, Smooth Lustre paper.
Finished result is a beautiful, unique
album. This is a link to the 8" Album
and the 12" Album.

Linda and I volunteered our
photography services for the
Relay for Life 5K Run/Walk in
Yorkville once again this year. It
was a great turnout and the warm
weather was unbelievable. The
morning started off very foggy
though and that made for some
fun photography. Linda was
positioned along the river road
where the fog and morning light
combined to create really
interesting lighting. She took many
terrific photos but I like our
featured photo the most. Check
out our gallery of over 1000
photos by clicking on the photo
or link below it. Hope you enjoy
them.

One of the participants of
Saturday's Relay for Life race
asked us to do something unique
with the photos we took of her
during the race. Our first design is
a collage of some of the photos
superimposed over a 12"x 24"
spread of her at the race start.
We extracted her and faded
everything else. Then we placed a
couple of images from the race on
top. To the far right, we placed an
extraction of her holding the
award she won. Our second
design is the same extracted
image from the collage, placed
over a neutral background with
the Relay for Life sign behind her.
We think they both work really
well. Perhaps you would like
something along these lines to
commemorate your participation
in the race. Just email or call us
with any requests you may have.

We have something new and unique to
offer. I've taken the digital cameos I
talked about in a previous post and
made them into actual necklaces. The
first is a 30x40mm image mounted on
the back of a clear glass cabochon
and then wrapped with 12k gold wire.
The second is a 22x30mm image
mounted behind a clear glass
cabochon in an antique gold setting
with amethyst crystal bead surrounding
it. The last is an image mounted to a
heart shaped glass cabochon and
wrapped with sterling silver wire.
These were fun to make and I believe offer a new and unique way to display
your favorite photographs. The designs would not necessarily have to be
restricted to cameo designs, any photograph that will look good in the setting
would work. A vintage photo might also convert well. The setting or wire
wrap would not be limited to these designs. I would select a style to
complement the photo and give a selection to choose from. Send me an email
if you are interested in these. Click on any of the above image to take you to a
gallery of all the designs.

Linda and I shook off
an early morning chill
to shoot the Barnesville
Park Rotary Lake 5K
on Saturday. Linda
"volunteered" to make
the mile walk down to
the lake to shoot the
participants during the
middle of the race
while I hung around at
the finish line. Having
two shooters really
allows us to capture
the race more fully.

Ohio Hummingbirds
The male hummingbirds have just
returned to our home in
Jacobsburg, Ohio. They are a bit
early this year, just like
everything else. Anyway I
thought I would spend a little
time trying to capture a few
images of them. These are some
of my favorites. It's not easy
taking photos of these little guys.
They don't stay in one place for
very long. Hope you enjoy the
photos. Click here or the image
to the right to access the gallery.
